Best Facial Rollers for Your Skincare Routine
Are you looking to reduce morning puffiness, boost skin product absorption, and perhaps even get sharper cheekbones? We highly recommend incorporating a facial roller into your daily skincare routine. According to numerous dermatologists and skincare enthusiasts, using facial massagers and rollers regularly can make your skin tighter, brighter and bouncier, giving you that fresh glow others try to achieve with dewy makeup looks. How so, you may ask? Well for one, frequent face massages stimulate the skin and its underlying structures, increasing blood flow and preventing puffiness and swelling. They can also be used with serums and moisturizers for increased product absorption – fantastic for hydration and fighting hyperpigmentation if you pair your roller with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum.
But with so many facial rollers and massagers on the market – jade rollers, stones, vibrational devices, and more – finding the right one for your skin can be challenging. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best facial rollers that can help you level up your skincare game. Let’s get rolling.

Best Facial Rollers Buying Guide
Whether you’re looking for a wrinkle roller or it’s time to upgrade your facial massage tools, incorporating a face roller into your beauty regime is the perfect way to enjoy some pampering while improving the quality of your skin in no time.
These innovative tools have been used in beauty routines for centuries. Still, it’s only recently that they’re growing in popularity, with celebrities from Gwyneth Paltrow to Justin Bieber raving about the plethora of benefits these tools offer.
Benefits of Face Rolling
Although skin rollers have been growing in popularity in recent years, there is still some question about the benefits of using these unique tools. However, this could simply be because the benefits of facial rolling are so wide-ranging that they need to be seen (or experienced) to be believed!
From alleviating tension in overworked muscles to shifting toxins and even reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin rollers are the solution to almost any (face or neck) aliment you could think of.
In more detail, a facial roller can:
- Release tension in overworked muscles – particularly for those who clench their jaws.
- Tone and lift your complexion.
- Shift toxins and blockages by promoting healthy lymph system functioning.
- Reduce puffiness, dark circles, and inflammation.
- Boost the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients in the skin.
- Stimulate the production of collagen and elastin (reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles)
- Release energy blockages and improve the balance of your chi (this is particularly emphasized with gua sha tools, but is also a benefit of any facial massage tools).
- Improve the skin’s ability to absorb serums, creams, or other beauty products.
- Help you feel relaxed and reduce stress.
How to Use a Face Roller
A face roller might look like a crazy tool, but once you perfect your technique, you can enjoy beautiful, glowing, wrinkle-free skin in no time. All it takes is a little preparation…
Using a smaller jade roller, start from the upper inner edge of your eye (where your brows meet your nose) and move the roller outwards.
Next, roll around the top of the eye towards the tear duct.
Finally, place the roller vertically by the inner corner of the eye and use a gentle rocking motion.
Start in the center of your forehead at the hairline. Roll your crystal roller slowly out towards your ear. Repeat this movement 3-6 times in the same area, then move to another section of the forehead, always starting in the middle and working out.
Nose, lips, and chin
Use a large roller for the bottom half of your face and work from the nose towards the ear. Roll the chin massage tool gently outwards a few times, then move down and repeat the motion starting in the middle of the upper lip, then the lower lip, then the chin.
Once you get to the chin, follow your jawline to the ear lobe.
Repeat on the other side.
Jawline and neck
Again, you’ll want to start massaging your jawline and neck from the chin. Work from the middle of your chin in an outward motion towards the cheeks.
Next, place your chin massage tool in the middle of your chin and make sweeping rolls down towards your collar bone. Work out towards the sides of the neck and repeat as necessary.
What to Look For in a Facial Roller
While the world-famous jade roller and gua sha facial massage tools are firmly rooted in tradition, facial rolling has been combined with modern technology to take the experience to the next level. So, whether you’re looking for the latest and most futuristic technology to add to your skincare regime or prefer to stick with age-old wisdom, there are facial rollers for every preference.
But while the latest technology looks pretty different from traditional rose quartz or jade roller, the perfect facial roller for you will depend on what you want to get out of it. Here’s our cheat sheet to help you pick:
- Rose Quartz Rollers are best for blood circulation, de-puffing, toning, and boosting collagen production. This means if you’re looking for an anti-aging roller, rose quartz is for you!
- Obsidian Rollers are fantastic for releasing toxins and aiding with the absorption of beauty products. If you want the healing powers of a crystal roller, go for obsidian.
- Amethyst Rollers are known to promote relaxation and intuition, replacing toxins with soothing energies. It’s a healing crystal roller and is perfect for reducing stress.
- Jade Rollers are among the most traditional facial massage tools and provide a deeper massage than some other skin rollers. This is perfect for preventing sagging or dull skin, as well as balancing your “inner energies.”
Do I put my jade roller in the fridge or freezer?
Absolutely! Although you don’t need to put a rose quartz/jade roller in the fridge or freezer, cooling down the stone before use is a great way to enhance the tool’s de-puffing, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties faster and more soothing results.
How do I clean a face roller?
Most face rollers are straightforward to clean with just a damp cloth or soft towel. Rollers should never be soaked or washed with boiling water, but you can use a gentle soap or cleanser to kill any bacteria and prevent product buildup on the tool.
Which is better, gua sha or roller?
Gua sha and face rollers offer many overlapping benefits, and it can be tricky to know which is best. Generally, gua sha is a more traditional skincare option that’s more effective for sculpting facial features due to the scraping technique. Rollers, however, can be far more convenient and quick to use than gua sha stones and are arguably better at stimulating blood flow and reducing puffiness or inflammation.
In other words, the best tool for your facial massage is the one you like best! We recommend trying a few different techniques until you find the perfect option.
