Why You Need a Pre-Serum

You already know what a HUGE proponent I am of self-care. You can’t take care of business if you don’t take care of yourself first! I’ve learned the hard way that having a morning and an evening routine just for me is a must. If I don’t start and end the day with something good for my mind, body and spirit, I get out of sorts—fast. Now, instead of checking my email, I take a few moments to meditate or journal and allow ample time for my skincare routine. It doesn’t take much, but it’s a moment that I look forward to every day. I’ll be 40 this summer (!) so have been taking extra care to protect my skin from environmental and life stressors—not to mention that screen I stare at constantly!

Products have gotten so smart lately. I’ve been nerding out with Shisiedo’s new Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, a “pre serum” that in addition to defending skin against dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and uneven texture, helps boost the effectiveness of your other skincare products. This lightweight pre-treatment is ideal for all skin types, thanks to a blend of Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract, Shiso and Thyme that maintain a healthy skin surface and protect against impurities.

After using this silky pre-treatment for a few weeks my skin looks glow-y and feels so soft, And the delicate Bulgarian rose scent is divine! I feel like I’m staying at a fancy five-star hotel spa whenever I use it.

At night, I’ve been following Ultimune with a serum and Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24. You’re always asking me for night cream recommendations and this one is wonderful! it’s luxurious, ultra-rich and incredibly moisturizing—even for the driest skin and climates (I feel your pain!).

The potent WrinkleResist24 formula helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles while Super Bio-hyaluronic Acid minimizes keeps your skin hydrated and dewy. You’ll see when you wake up! Using Ultimune as a pre-treatment only further boosts the benefits of WrinkleResist24 and my entire skincare regimen. It’s a beautiful combination that protects and nourishes my skin no matter what the day brings. And that, my friends, is good for the soul.
