Two Natural Remedies For Seasonal Allergies

Natural Remedies for Seasonal Allergies: how Nettle Leaf Tea and Local Honey can help cure you, naturally! | Beauty Bets

Spring is glorious, especially now that it’s stop raining. We’re finally seeing signs of life! Every simple pleasure from the chirp of a bird to the bud of a tulip can make me smile ear-to-ear and I don’t care how cheesy that sounds. It’s the time for fresh starts. But first: seasonal allergies. Another of my least-favorite parts of #adulting: itchy, watery, puffy eyes, waking up congested, sneezing uncontrollably, and don’t even get me started on the post-nasal drip… I used to rely on prescription steroids and over-the-counter meds, but that never felt right. Why not treat nature with nature? I’ve come to appreciate these two natural allergy remedies, among others that I’m testing as I type. Start here, add a little patience, and remember: summer is right around the corner!

Nettle Leaf Tea  I swear, it tastes a lot better than it sounds. Okay, so it tastes a little like hay, but it is quite mild and oddly refreshing. You’ll definitely feel like you’re sitting in a medicine woman’s hut while you sip it. And the benefits are worth going woo woo for: Nettle is a natural antihistamine and can affect allergy receptors quickly if used at the first sign of symptoms. I like to drink a cup or two daily during allergy season (grab some on Amazon).

Local Honey – The International Archives of Allergy & Immunology did a study on local honey’s effect on allergy symptoms. Patients that consumed local honey had better control of their symptoms than the patients who took allergy medication. Turns out, honey that is local to your area contain the exact pollen that causes your allergy symptoms. I generally ingest a tablespoon or two a day during allergy season for relief. Even better: stir it into that tea!

Any natural or homeopathic remedies that you swear by for allergies? P.S. Don’t forget to neti pot!
