Spring Trends: From Runway to Reality

After years of watching the runway like a hawk, I’ve learned to take it a bit with a grain of salt. Meaning, no matter how many magazines are RAVING about slicked back ‘dos or neon eye shadow, if it’s not going to work with what I’ve got, I’m happy to skip a particular trend. The looks I am excited about channeling this season are vibrant, shiny hair, soft, tousled waves and orange lips. Even though there’s still snow on the ground here for crying out loud, I’ve been practicing in preparation for the day I can actually wear them.

ED P&G Spring Trends HAIR
I usually keep my hair color pretty simple, but I’m totally tempted by Vidal Sassoon Pro Series’ new London Luxe collection ($10). Inspired by the runway, theses bold, fashion-forward hues are vibrant and super-pigmented. How do you think I would look as a redhead?

To coax the natural wave out of my hair, I always reach for a hydrating shampoo that won’t weigh my hair down. Herbal Essences NAKED Moisture Cleansing Conditioner ($7) is perfect for this as it gently deep cleanses while protecting and moisturizing strands. Even better that it’s paraben- and sulfate-free!  For natural-looking, tousled waves, keep it simple: a few passes with a curling iron alternating away and toward the face and you’ll like you won’t look like you were trying too hard.

ED P&G Spring Trends LIPS

I’m easing into the orange lipstick thing with coral. Although orange can get dicey on pale skin or anyone with pink in their skin, coral looks good on just about every skin type. It looks even better with a bit of bronzer. I’ve been rocking CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor in Coral ($10).

CoverGirl refreshed its famous 16-hour formula with brighter hues, a shea butter-infused top coat and waterproof finish—take a look at the whopping 47 shades if you haven’t in a while!

What beauty trends are looking forward to trying this spring?
