Let’s Talk About Whitening Toothpaste

Time to get real up in here. Before I put on my makeup, blow out my hair, and slip into some statement necklace for all of those selfies, I brush my teeth just like everyone else. And I’m kind of a freak about it. You could take away all of my fancy lotions and potions and I’d be okay as long as I still had my teeth. I credit my mom with this. She’s a dental hygienist so you can imagine the flossing that went on in our house. And the lack of soda and sugar cereal. I thought I would DIE if I had to eat another bowl of shredded wheat. Now, of course, I realize how lucky I was and it’s made me fairly neurotic about keeping my teeth bright, white and super healthy.

So let’s talk toothpaste. It has come a long way since I was a kid. It’s actually kind of mind-boggling to stand in the aisle and make sense of all the options. Naturally I reach for anything that promises to whiten. I don’t use any of those strips or kits because I hardly have time to floss let alone mess around with some sort of system. So when Colgate came out with Optic White Dual Action toothpaste, it was game on. Toothpaste may not sound sexy like lipstick but when I hear things like “polishes teeth surfaces for a shinier smile” and “whitens more than 3 shades*” I can’t help but nerd out.

I’ve been using Colgate Optic White Dual Action toothpaste for a couple weeks and am already loving the results and—more nerdery—the super fresh, eye-opening minty taste. Hey, it’s the little things that get me out of the bed in the morning. Since I know you’re wondering: No, it does NOT leave my teeth and gums sensitive, which is the WORST and one of my pet peeves about other whitening products. I’ll be back with toothy white grin pics soon, but in the meantime I’ve teamed up with the cool kids at Colgate on a Why I Flash My Brilliant Smile Pinterest board. There’s so much to love this fall! What’s putting a smile on your face?
