Wise Investment: Urban Decay Naked2 Palette

If you squirmed through Sex & The City 2 than you know that sometimes even the most hyped-up sequels can suck. Urban Decay’s Naked2 Palette, however, is one highly anticipated follow-up that lives up to its stellar predecesor, Naked. And while spending $50 on eye shadow won’t ever be a regular thing for me, here are three big reasons this palette is such a smart buy.
Color Range: Naked2’s 12 taupe-tastic shades (5 are exclusive to the set) range from a pale nude matte to full-on black, with 10 more shimmery, glittery and greige-y shades in between. Want something neutral/Bobbi-Brown-like for a job interview? Naked2 can do that Headed out for a casual date and want a little bit of shimmer on your lids? Throw on some Chopper or a touch of YDK and you’re out the door. Need a smokey eye for ladies night on the town? You get the idea.
Quality: Heavily pigmented shadows like Urban Decay’s last an impressive amount of time (especially if you use a primer). And since they are so dense, a little goes a long way. Meaning you won’t blow through your favorite shade in a matter of weeks. They blend well and, as expected in any complementary palette, play nicely with each other.
Packaging and Extras: I appreciate the durability of Naked2’s cool-to-the-touch metal case so I can toss it into my weekender without a worry. While most compact brushes seem like cheap after-thoughts, the Naked2 shadow/crease brush (exclusive to this set), works and feels like a professional-grade product. The minty tiny-sized lip gloss that completes the set is a nice freebie, too.  –Meghan
