The $45 Facial For Everyone on Your List

What: A gift certificate for a facial at The Aveda Institute ($45).
Perfect for: Your mom, sister, best friend, YOU.
Why it rocks: I cherish my (infrequent) visits to fancy schmancy spas as much as the next girl, but none of them compares to the facials at I’ve received at The Aveda Institute. For less than the cost of a department-store tube of face cream, you can treat your loved one to a blissful hour’s-worth of customized masques, extractions and massage in a calm, soothing (supervised) environment. Basic facials start at $45—half as much as one at a “normal” spa—but I usually pony up the extra $10 for the plant-perfecting, complexion-refreshing peel, an affordable alternative to a glycolic peel or microdermabrasion. I’ve visited four Institutes throughout the U.S. and have consistently encountered student practitioners that are warm, friendly and eager-as-hell to please. Find the school nearest you here.
