Your Green Beauty Questions, Answered!

Congrats to Lindsay, the winner of Friday’s Red Flower Blood Orange giveaway, courtesy of the Nature of Beauty! The founder, Terri Bly, has also graciously answered some of your most pressing questions about greening up your beauty routine:
Best natural eye makeup remover:
rms beauty coconut cream is my favorite (and it’s just one ingredient!), and Couleur Caramel Eye Cleansing Veil. They’re amazing.
For thin hair that needs volume:
Intelligent Nutrients Volumizing Spray. My mom has thin hair, and says this is the best volumizier she’s ever used. It’s very concentrated, so a few pumps at the roots of damp hair before drying is all you need.
Choosing a safe SPF:
Zinc Oxide is the safest sun protection ingredient available in the US. Vive Sana is one of my favorite brands, and it’s on sale! And no worries about nano zinc – there’s a tremendous body of research now showing that it does not get into the body.
Natural products for kids:
For the most part, skin care marketed for babies and kids is just the same ol’ stuff but with artificial color and scent added. All of our products are made with safe ingredients and natural essential oils for fragrance, so they are perfect for adults and the little ones.
About organic skin care being too expensive:
It’s an unfortunate myth that natural and organic products cost more. We have face washes for $10 and great shampoos for $15. (Bets adds: In addition to being healthier, they’re also more concentrated + effective than drugstore brands, so you get what you pay for!)
Lip balm:
The biggest problem with is that we all have thin, damaged lips from years of petroleum use. Petroleum seals out air. Over time, the lack of oxygen causes skin cells to die off, and the skin on the lips gets increasingly thinner. So when you stop using petroleum-based lip balms, your lips may always feel a bit “exposed.” That being said, my favorite balms for my VERY damaged lips are Logona Lip Balm and rms beauty skin and lip balm.
