Vamping it up for Fall, Bobbi Brown Style

In fashion and in beauty, what goes around always comes around again. Fall’s vampy makeup trend, for example, is taking me straight back to the late nineties, when I sported a standing combination of black and gray outfits, pale skin, and dark brown lips. The subtlest (and I assume you want subtle) reincarnation of this moody look comes from Bobbi Brown, who always does more natural than supernatural. This weekend I stopped by the counter with my friend Stacey to find her a new lip color. Much to my surprise, even with her blue eyes and blonde hair she looked soft and stunning in Bobbi’s new Black Velvet collection. The Sheer Color Gloss in Black Chocolate, which just deepened her natural lip shade, was so cozy and luxe after summer’s brighter hues. I’m debating the Creamy Lip Color in Black Cherry for my fall arsenal. This shiny, light-weight lipstick is my favorite formula from Bobbi, and because it’s not as pigmented as the full-on lip color, it’s a super way to experiment with more daring shades. And now, I’m off to listen to some Nirvana.
