A New Use for Yogurt!

After making its debut last week, DIY Day is back! I wasn’t sure what the response would be, but it turns out there’s something cathartic about getting back to the basics. This week I promised to share my hair mask recipe, which I actually gleaned from Whole Living magazine. It sounds kind of gross, feels super slimy, and rinses out rather slowly. HOWEVER: My hair looks like a million dollars the next day. Thick and smooth and magically free of split ends. The yogurt and egg add moisture and protein, which strengthens each strand. I’m not sure what the lemon juice does besides make the mask smell like pie!

1/2 c plain yogurt
1 T freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 egg

Blend all ingredients in a bowl until smooth. After shampooing, apply the mixture to hair and scalp. Leave on for about 20 minutes, preferably with your hair wrapped in towel so the mask doesn’t drip everywhere. Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water, then follow with conditioner if your hair is dry or needs detangling. Style as usual and admire your hotness. Note: The results are must more noticeable the following day so plan ahead!
