We Heart Valentine’s Day

Forget roses and chocolate. Give me pretty paper, impossibly glamorous pillar candles and aphrodisiac tea on Valentine’s Day. Wait. Give me those every day!  xoxo –Bets

You couldn’t pay me to be a teenager again, but Maybelline Baby Lips ($4) tinted balms take me right back to passing time and after-school dances.

Anything Kate Spade loves, I want. Including this girly coffee table book ($40) and most definitely that striped settee.

Grown-up hair ties two ways: Rock Solid studded hair elastics by Ban.Do ($20 each) . . .

 . . . and sweet heart elastics by Emi-Jay ($6.50/set)

Oh sweet, sweet Sugar Paper, you’re killing me softly with this darling gold embossed confetti card ($6).

For anyone who’s too cool for Vday school, there’s Rodin Olio Lusso’s scented candle. It smells like jasmine and neroli, burns for 85-hours, looks like a work of modern art, and costs a very pretty penny ($125). I’ll take two.
I’m officially on a tea kick, and Kusmi is next. More than one reader has sung its praises, and now I hear its the drink of choice at NYFW. Sweet Love increases physical and mental alertness and packs a pink-pepper punch of antioxidants. Spicy!

Classic Gifts for Classy People

I had so much fun sharing my holiday picks with Birchbox readers, who have impeccable taste. Another fool-proof present? A Birchbox subscription, which start at just 10 dollars. There’s even a box for the boys filled with grooming essentials even Mr. Bets couldn’t resist. –Bets

1. Paper goods run a close second to beauty products in my world, and no one does them prettier than Sugar Paper. Plus, any excuse to combine stripes, bows and gold foil. 2. We are an old-school whiskey drinking family—mint juleps in the summer and manhattans in the winter. Bulleit is the best. 3. More stripes and gold foil! I can’t get enough. And what girl wouldn’t want this French votive on her desk or vanity? 4. Pop these wooden toothbrushes in your weekender for a hostess gift, or hand them out to your own overnight guests. 5. My brother is getting this felt wallet for Christmas. Like his Minnesota-raised sister, he has a thing for heritage design with a North Woods vibe. 6. Best. Hand cream. Ever. Rodin Olio Lusso Crema is as rich as its price tag yet miraculously non-greasy. 7. A rose body oil by any other name would not smell this real. It’s as gorgeous and natural as everything else in One Love Organics’ life-changing line. 8. Speaking of life-changing: J.Crew vintage pajama sets are the best gift I’ve ever received. This year I’m asking Santa for the short-sleeved version. 9. No style blogger can seem to get enough of Clare Vivier clutches or her use of neon with soft, neutral leathers.  10. There’s something incredible satisfying about scribbling on a thick, white notepad. Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t ooh and ahh over my stack of them, from Russell + Hazel.
