Have a Weekend Spa Night In

spa night necessities | beauty bets

Midsummer is a great time to stay in for an at-home spa night. Give yourself, your hair, and your skin some R&R from the sun and heat. Here’s how it’s done in my house. –Dani

1. Grab some Davines Hair Care. If a beauty blogger tells you that they’re on their second set of something, then you know its good! Davines Love Shampoo ($24) & Conditioner  ($28) combined with their Beautifying Potion ($36) makes my hair super glossy.
2. We’re suckers for anything sparkly—-and this Sunny Side Bubble Bar by Lush ($7) is just that! Golden bubbles with a tangerine scent.
3. Sip on champagne! Try Cucpake Prosecco  ($11) to save or Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee ($32) for a little splurge.
4. Treat yourself to this Caldrea Aloe Water Apricot Body Wash  ($18) & Creme  ($28) . The scent is so good that I’m also eyeing the perfume ($18).
5. Relax with light, flowing tunes! A few in French definitely won’t hurt . . .

Secrets of a Closet Faux Tanner

summer skin

I’ll let you in on a secret: I recently spent seven days on an island covered in SPF and promptly returned home to fake my vacation glow. Safety first, ladies! No one knew…until now. Here’s how to fake your own flawless (self) tan:

1. Cleanse. Use something gentle like Caldrea Aloe Water Apricot Body Wash ($18). Minneapolis-based Caldrea knows a thing or two about the perfect fragrance. This one is so good that I have contemplated showering multiple times per day. It’s free-radical fighting extracts are an added bonus.

2. Exfoliate. Undoubtedly the most important step before you strut around in your sundresses. A daily date with a natural-bristled body brush, like this one by Earth Therapeutics ($10), will brighten your skin and assist with a smooth application of self tanner.

3. Bronze. After cleansing and exfoliating, apply a self-tanner. Our long-time favorite at BB is bareMinerals Faux Tan Face ($24) & Body ($26). Both yield a natural-looking, non-orange shade without any unfortunate odor. We’ve managed to avoid all self-tanner catastrophes with this brand!

4. Moisturize. Your tan will look less faux and last longer if you keep your skin moisturized! I like something affordable and effective, such as Nivea Body Smooth Sensation ($8).

Happy tanning!
