BaubleBar + Essie FTW!

Not a week goes by that I don’t corner a friend or co-worker to gush about BaubleBar.  I can’t get enough of this newish site, which has pretty much cornered the market on statement jewelry (last purchase: this navy polka-dot strand). Just when I think I don’t need one more chunky gold necklace, BaubleBar comes out with something spectacular at an ungodly good price. Their designer collaborations only feed the addiction, and the latest with Essie was made to taunt me.

BB (I do love those initials) has designed limited-edition bracelets inspired by the festive, sparkly Essie Winter 2012 collection. You get to build your own matching set of  THREE bracelets and one bottle of coordinating Essie nail polish for $50. I’m partial to Snap Happy, a retro-red that BB has paired with an art deco enamel number. How about you?

How to Wear Neon

Neon is popping up everywhere. Shoes, accessories, and yes—makeup. Don’t be afraid. Here are a few simple tips for pulling off this daring trend:
1. Perfection. Sure, one percent of people could pull off neon eye shadow from lash to brow, but for the rest of us it needs be meticulously applied to look good. Start with an eyelid primer such as Bare Minerals Prime Time ($18.00) to prevent a hot mess.
2. Complement your makeup. While you should keep the rest of your makeup neutral, be sure to play up the neon theme by adding a pop somewhere else. Try a ballet flatclutch or necklace in an equally psychedelic shade.
3. Confidence. That goes without saying, right? A look this bold has to be owned.

How do you feel about the neon trend? Have you experimented with it yet, and if so what products are you using? –Danielle
