On Being Boss Even When You Are Scared Sh*tless
Earlier this month I was featured on the Being Boss podcast, sharing my career journey and evolution. It was a total honor to be included among some seriously dynamic and brave entrepreneurs. It was also an awkward and borderline mortifying moment for me to be interviewed, when my business and my life are such a work in progress. I’m chin-deep in the beauty industry, while dipping my toe into the spiritual world with HEALERS. Meanwhile, I’m planning a wedding and creating a family. All good things to be sure, but at no point in the conversation did l feel like an expert, let alone a #girlboss. My only choice was to answer every question with honesty and vulnerability, laying bare the messiness and uncertainty of running a business and building a brand, especially during a time of transformation. The truth is that I’m making everything up as a go. There is no roadmap and no guarantee of where one would lead anyway. Amazingly (or not), embracing uncertainty and letting my heart guide me is exactly what resonated with listeners. I am overwhelmed by the comments and emails from those of you in career transition who needed permission to just go for it. You don’t need all of the answers or the perfect website or logo. You simply need to take the next step, then the next, and before you know it you’ll have made something that is more you and more miraculous than anything you can possibly imagine. Thank you for reminding me that I do know what I’m talking about, I just need to take my own advice! –Elizabeth
P.S. You can listen to my Being Boss episode here and all of the inspiring episodes here. So good.
I’m literally in the midst of considering some serious life changes and trying to spend more time expanding my website/brand and I come across your post! I’m going to take it as a sign to move forward. Thank you for the #girlboss inspiration. FYI, just from one post….I know you are a #girlboss.
Yes! It’s definitely a sign. You got this! And thank you for the encouragement!
I loved the episode! As a longtime fan of your site, it was so fun to see how things have evolved and grown for you lately. Our journeys are fairly similar and I was super-duper encouraged and inspired by hearing your chat with K+E. Running over to subscribe to Healers now! 🙂 XOXO
Thank you so much, Jessie! For the encouragement, for listening, and for being along for this wild ride! Good luck with yours . . . keep me posted!
