Meditation in a Bottle
It’s one of the most peaceful, restorative positions in yoga, a relief after the grueling ups and downs, twists and turns of class. Child’s pose has the power to instantly calm a racing mind and tender limbs. It’s better than sleep; it’s fully present rest for a weary body and spirit. Some days, I wish I could stay in child’s pose, shielding myself from the frantic pace of the human experience. Since that’s not possible (and I’m terrible at getting myself to a yoga class when it’s 80 and sunny), I keep a bottle of Soul Sunday’s Child’s Pose ($24) mist on the night stand or my desk. The essential oil infused tonic is intended to refresh your yoga mat, but I spritz it liberally on my skin, surroundings, even pillow case, before deeply inhaling the calming scent. It’s like meditation in a bottle, and we could all use more of that in our lives.
