Hydrating Beauty Water
Sure, good skincare and the perfect BB Cream can make you look dewy, but nothing does for your skin what sleep and being hydrated from the inside out can do. Did you know that up to 75% of the American population walks around every day dehydrated? No wonder we all feel sluggish and dependent on Starbucks. Not only is dehydration hard on your skin but has a negative impact on nearly every bodily process, including brain function, metabolism, immunity . . . the list goes on and on. Which is why I’m a big advocate of getting in your daily 80 oz of H2O (or more, don’t stop there!) and I love sneaking in extra ounces with a big glass of my Hydrating Beauty Water.
This recipe is super fast to whip up and provides your body with 24 ounces of fresh water (56 more to go!) as well as a dose of antioxidants from the blueberries and strawberries. The lime juice aids in digestion and detoxification, and is also packed with anti-carcinogenic properties. Cinnamon can help lower blood sugar levels, reduce your risk of several diseases including heart disease, and acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
16-24 ounces chilled water
Juice of 1 lime
1 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Place all ingredients, except water, into a blender and pulse until well blended. Slowly pour in water until you reach the concentration you want. I like to add a lot of water so that it tastes lightly flavored, but a more potent mixture is delightful, too! Pulse in the blender a few times to combine. Add a colorful paper straw and enjoy!
