The Makeup Concept We’ve All Been Waiting For

Lately I’ve been going for long stretches without getting REALLY excited about a new beauty product or brand. Not exactly conducive to blogging . . . But sometimes a humdinger comes along and I can’t wait to share it with you. Say hello to Stowaway, a chic little line of portable cosmetics co-founded by Chelsa Crowley, a makeup artist and former creative director at Bobbi Brown and Clinique, and Julie Fredrickson, a former Ann Taylor brand manager and e-commerce marketing entrepreneur. Talk about a dream team! They hatched Stowaway over brunch so, duh, I love them already. Unlike sample sizes, which are well and good for skincare, no one has tackled proper makeup minis until now. What so great about Stowaway, however, is that while everything is smaller, you don’t even notice—until you go to pop it in your bag. The packaging is slick and matte gray and the formulas remind me of Bobbi Brown in all the best ways: highly pigmented, rich and creamy, and supernaturally flattering. I’m taking mine to Venice Beach this week but also plan to keep in my everyday tote for touch-ups. Kind of excited about this. THE STOWAWAY KIT ($75) includes the entire customizable collection (you pick your shades): BB cream, concealer, pot rouge, lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. Or you can purchase products separately. Either way, brilliant.
