Intuition. Instincts. Gut feelings. We all have them, but how often do we listen? Sometimes they are whispers, other times raging and physically charged. Your body knows where it’s at; it never lies (shingles anyone?). When that happens, you’ve missed the sign posts along the way. For me, it’s usually because I didn’t like what my gut had to say. The relationship that wasn’t working, the job that was no longer fulfilling. Those niggling thoughts we push away won’t be ignored. They may lie dormant, they may circle us for days or even years, but the truth always finds you. What we resist persists is the quote that plays on repeat when I’m feeling stuck or don’t want to face a challenging or uncertain reality. The beautiful irony is that tuning into our instincts leads us to the next phase of the journey and to our higher selves. The psychics I’ve worked with all say that we are born with intuition that, unless cultivated, wanes as society teaches us not to trust our inner voice. Our natural instincts are smoked out and extinguished every time a parent or friend or someone we trust doesn’t support our curiosity and self-expression. We learn to keep our mouths shut and our hearts closed for fear of rejection. Lately I’ve been making a conscious effort to pay attention to my intuition. Sometimes I simply observe it, make a small shift, and move along. Other times, when the feelings are big and deep, I turn them over just as one would a piece of evidence. The more I view my intuition as a gift, the more it gives back. Just a little something I’m working on….would love to hear your stories or practices on this topic, too. Have a wonderful week!
