Chopping it Off: Kara Gets a Bob

karabob

“Every time we see you, you’ve done something new with your hair!” said one of my coworkers last week. Since I’m only in-office once a week, she’s not wrong. I can’t help it; I’m addicted to changing it up.

In the past few months alone I’ve gone from platinum to rose gold to a light brown to wheat blonde. It’s kind of exhausting, really. I love the boost a new hair color gives me, but I’m happy where I am on the blonde spectrum right now. So when I got the itch to change it up again, I just chopped it all off instead of highlighting and bleaching the way I usually would.

Yep, I fell hard for the bob trend. My hair was around collarbone-length before I hacked it off, and I have this many regrets: ZERO. My hair hasn’t been this short since I was ten years old, and I love it. I can’t pull it back into a pony, but it’s so much easier to style and deal with now that it’s short. I don’t know why I didn’t do this years ago.

Of course, with wavy, temperamental hair like mine, I DO need a little help. I now refuse to live in a world without my beloved Naturally Straight styling crème from Aveda, which helps my hair dry faster and smoothes out the frizz and wonky waves, leaving me with easy, tousled sexy hair. I’m always recommending it as a leave-in for my curly-haired friends. And when I want to go straight? It’s so much easier with my new ghd Eclipse flatiron, which heats up in literally seconds and adjusts its temperature to your hair texture to reduce damage. I’m so obsessed with it that I’m even trying to get my brother to let me straighten his curls. Plus it’s black, so it matches all my outfits – it’s practically an accessory!
