The Best Essential Oils to Try Now

Alright friends, let’s chat essential oils—they’re not just for making products smell good! I’m talking powerful skincare cures that pack a serious punch. Growing up I came from the hippie dippiest family around, which meant essential oils were used for any ailment or health issue that popped up. Sure, Tylenol was great for headaches but why not add a eucalyptus oil massage to the mix too? Now that I’m an adult (supposedly…) I’m appreciate even more the magical qualities of essential oils as beauty treatments and the cure for what ails you.

Argon Oil: Known for it’s mad moisturizing skills, this nutrient rich & antioxidant infused oil is amazing for hair and skin. I use a few drops of Josie Maran’s body oil and voilà! my skin is instantly happy again.

Rose Hip Oil: Another skincare phenom, rose hip oil moisturizes and improves skin texture. When my skin is crying in the colder months (boo to Midwest winters!) I’ll dab a few drops under my makeup to give myself a little faux summertime glow.

Peppermint Oil: This super oil is a pro when it comes to dealing with just about any pesky skincare issue. As an unlucky 25 year old with the skin of a 15 year old, I use peppermint oil to naturally calm any nasty breakouts.

Lemon Oil: While everyone swears by the magic of hot water and lemon slices as a morning pick me up, I opt for a little lemon oil magic instead. Since lemon oil is a natural astringent, it’s great at rejuvenating tired skin (aka my skin struggles every M-F!)

Lavender Oil: All day. Every day. But really, lavender oil might be my favorite essential oil of all time. Besides being amazing for your skin (curing chapped lips, eczema and burns, just to name a few), its calming abilities are what really made me fall in love. I add a few drops to my temples or wrists on the craziest of days, and the smell instantly makes me chillax when I’m stressed to the max.
