Allure Beauty Blogger Awards Empties Challenge
The Allure Beauty Blogger Awards are in full swing—have you voted? These ladies don’t mess around. I’m on tap as this week’s guest judge for Challenge #4: Empties. The pressure is on, not only for the contestants to share the products they use until they’re gone, but for me to assess their creative blogging skills. It only seemed fair that I should tackle the challenge right along with them! Truth be told, I don’t finish many products before moving on to brighter, shinier objects. It takes a lot to really move me after all these years as a beauty writer. Those products that make it to the end (bottom?) are like a dying breed. Even more rare if I feel anxious when they’re gone and actually replace them. Here’s what recently made the cut:
(clockwise) I’m on my second Tarte Emphaseyes ($19). I’m not sure I could leave the house without a swipe of this along my waterline. The pale peach pencil brings out the whites of my eyes and makes me look wide awake. // When my nail salon started phasing out CND Shellac, I became one of those people who bring their own polish. Fedora is a chic, deep berry berry brown—not black or purple. // Come summer I always make the switch to Fresh Sugar Lemon ($48). It’s bright, citrusy and and takes me someplace sunnier. I’ll be needing more soon! // Nothing consistently makes my fine hair feel full and thick yet smooth like Aveda’s Invati System (. I just committed to liters of the shampoo and conditioner so you know it’s serious. // When I’m traveling for a big event and need amazing skin in a flash, I pack Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads ($32 for 20). Applied in the morning, it gives you a post-peel glow, which develops into the most amazing golden tan as the day wears on. Feels like cheating. // I’ve lost count of how many Bobbi Brown Corrector ($24) I’ve blown through. It’s the ONLY thing that erases dark circles. // Some days I forget to put on foundation because my skin looks so freaking amazing thanks entirely to BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector ($41). One part illuminator, one part primer with SPF 25, it truly is the perfect, most indispensable makeup in my toolkit. // Santa put a Sea Salt Soap ($6) in my stocking this year and I’ve been day dreaming about my next bar ever since. It’s super creamy, smells like fresh ocean air and contains real sea salt for a scrubby effect. // Yep, another illuminator. I carry RMS Living Luminizer ($38) with me for cheekbone pick-me-ups as needed. It’s also what gives J.Crew models that impossible glow. You’re welcome.
Don’t forget to check out Allure’s Beauty Blogger Award and vote for your favorite! Also curious what products you’ve finished lately—would you buy them again?
