A North Shore Weekend
Mr. Bets and I are headed Up North for a long weekend at the family cabin, which I have a tendency to turn into a makeshift destination spa. If there’s room in the car, there’s no limit on how many lotions and potions or bottles of bubbly I can bring! Happy Friday! –Elizabeth
Fun in the sun means sunscreen galore. I always lug up a tote filled with my current favorites for the whole family.
A big pot of coffee and a few spritzes of Soapwalla’s cooling, skin-brightening Essential Facial Toning Mist ($38) are the perfect start to a cabin day.
Nature is really no place for much makeup. Kiehl’s BB Cream has SPF 50 and just enough skin-perfecting tint.
Have you seen the newest fabrics and patterns from LiveSavvy headbands? So pretty and so functional for traipsing along the shore.
Meow Meow Tweet All-Natural Insect Repellent ($18) is a must on hikes. I’m really digging the use of essential oils as an alternative to chemicals and the lavender and rosemary in this Brooklyn-made spray smell unreal.
Speaking of bugs, they won’t have anything on the pretty Illume Starlight citronella candle that will double as a hostess gift.
After a steamy sauna and lickety-split dip in Lake Superior, I like to exfoliate head to toe. The cedar-rose scent of Caudalie Divine Scrub ($38) puts the luxury in Up North.
Chilled rosé is requisite for cocktail hour on the deck. We always bring up a few bottles to find a new favorite.
Nothing is more refreshing before my head hits the pillow than Pacifica Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes ($5). They even smell like coconut!
