My Fall Beauty Wishlist—on eBay

Ever since Mr. Bets and I started remodeling our kitchen, I’ve found myself scouring eBay on a regular basis. First it was for chandeliers, then blue and white ginger jars. During one trolling session I stumbled upon a treasure trove of J.Crew jewelry at J.C. Penney prices. You know where this is going. Beauty. Endless beauty. From drugstore to Dior, everyday to the exotic, beauty goods floweth over on the shopping site you see before you. eBay also happens to be the best-kept-secret for discontinued and limited edition collections like Emanuel Ungaro for MAC. I’ve got my eye on a number of products for fall—unless one of you beats me to the bid!

1. Rodin Olio Lusso Lip Balm ($26.60) – A lip balm pushing thirty bucks better be something pretty special and this one is, right down to the luxurious lucite compact. Inside, a pale pink pan of silky, subtle-y sheeny, shea butter infused balm. Laced with pure jasmine and neroli, it’s going to be worth every penny.

2. Heaven by Deborah Mitchell ($121.43) – The beauty world has been buzzing ever since Kate Middleton got a bee sting facial before her wedding day at the suggestion of mum-in-law Camilla. Her esthetician Deborah Mitchell created this real bee venom face mask to give skin an English rose glow. It isn’t available in the U.S. yet but now you know how to get your hands on a jar!

3. Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polish #559 Frenzy ($29.99) – Of the three shades in Chanel’s ever-anticipated fall nail trio, Frenzy is my favorite. A hybrid of last season’s nudes and the ongoing griege trend, it’s a pale, elegant gray I can get behind without the risk of looking like a corpse.

4. Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream ($41.95) – Most BB creams are made for girls with oily skin, of which I am not one. I don’t want mattifying, I want dewifying. So it was with skepticism that I listened to a facialist rave about this new beauty balm. Then I tried it. Result: totally glow-y skin that stayed that way all day. The secret is in a sheer yet waterproof finish, and the bonus is SPF 25.

5. Weleda Arnica Massage Oil ($17.78) – Winter’s around the corner and with it a chill that won’t leave my Midwestern body until spring. When I can’t get to the sauna or spa I’ll be reaching for my massage therapist’s go-to treatment for tired, achy muscles. The organic arnica flower extract has a warming affect that’s so soothing—and smells so much better than Bengay!

6. Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb ($87.50) – The older I get, the pickier I become about fragrance. My husband is even pickier. But when I brought a sample of this woodsy, sporty, very masculine scent home we both agreed: It’s the bomb.

7. Benefit Porefessional ($31.49) – So much more than a pore minimizer, and so much better than the primers that promise big things but don’t deliver. Apply under makeup for instantly smoother, magically more flawless skin. Pores disappear, lines blur, and you may not even need that makeup after all . . .
