Blowdry! Opens, Gives Away Blowout

..

It’s heeeeeeere! The first blowout bar opened yesterday in the Twin Cities, and not a second too soon. We’ve been embarrassingly behind the blowout trend—why should the coasts have all good hair?!—but it was worth the wait. Blowdry! Blowdry Bar is everything I’d hoped it would be, and then some. The brainchild of the smarty pants duo behind Haus Salon (who? what? You’ve been missing out!), Blowdry occupies a gorgeously sleek, all-white space next to Covered in Uptown. It’s set up like an actual bar, minus the booze, so you get to see yourself and everyone else get round-brushed to high heavens. $35 buys a heavenly scalp massage and shampoo, followed by the blowout and styling of your choice. So unlike the standard blow-and go (surely there’s a gas station by that name?), you get to flip through a darling picture book and select your favorite look, from boudoir glam to Texas-sized curls (I got The Boho). Updos and add-ons like braids are extra, understandably, but honestly: This is more than a blowout, it’s a TREATMENT. And I suggest you plan ahead and treat yourself to the Ooo La La Date Night package: Brazilian wax + Blowout for $60. SIXTY DOLLARS. You can’t even get a wax for that at some spas. Also note that Blowdry offers blowout packages for those of you who’d prefer to never wield a round brush again. While cutting or coloring aren’t on the menu (this is a bar, not a salon), waxing, lash + brow tinting, and makeup application are. I’m already picturing party buses rolling in from the ‘burbs for GNO . . .

UPDATE: Congratulations to our winner, Amy Sanders! Looking forward to seeing your Texas-sized hair real soon. Blowdry is giving a proper blowout away to one lucky BB reader! To qualify, follow Beauty Bets on Pinterest and leave your name below. We’ll draw a winner at random on Monday.
