How Not to Get Overwhelmed

Happy Monday! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I observed St. Patrick’s Day a little too much, caught up on some cuddle time on the couch with Mr. Bets and our little lab Molly, and has THE BEST TIME brainstorming on an exciting project with friends who inspire + blow me away with their creativity. It was so energizing and made me realize that I’ve been so focused on accomplishing a million daily tasks that I’ve been avoiding tackling the big goals—even though they are far more important to me. Then yesterday I stumbled on this quote in O Magazine from health and wellness coach Claire Stuckey and it really resonated with me:

“If the thought of taking a big step feels overwhelming, try making a small change in an unrelated area. Spending a few minutes each day cleaning out your junk drawer or organizing crushing paperwork, for example, can help you feel successful—and provide you with the motivating energy to subsequently tackle the more difficult task.”

This explains why after I clean the house I feel like I can do anything! Or when I finally change that lightbulb or get a pair of pants hemmed, I suddenly want to conquer the world. Sound familiar?
