I’m Sick, But I’m Not as Fat

I’m home sick today with a bit of a cold, which is to say I’m at home as usual but not getting nearly enough work done. For example: Spent the last hour perusing Oh Joy! and Design*Sponge for gift ideas when I should’ve been doing an expense report. And so I will keep this short + sweet until tomorrow. Today marks the start of my 12th week at Lifetime Fitness Boot Camp. To date, I’ve lost 3 percent body fat—but not a pound. I can do 25 push-ups (the real kind) in a row, but hate every second of it. My pride and joy is 44 sit-ups in 60 seconds. I feel stronger, look better in sleeveless winter dresses, and have regained my love of going to the gym. In fact, it’s a pretty magical thing when you think about it. One hour devoted to yourself. One hour to worship the the body you’re so lucky to have because it carries you from home to work to happy hour with friends and back. I don’t generally make New Year’s resolutions, but I think mine will be to keep taking care of myself. I hope you’ll do the same, in whatever way brings you joy.
