Boot Camp Here I Come!

I started boot camp this week at Lifetime Fitness in Saint Louis Park. I would’ve told you sooner, but am still recovering from the PRESIDENTIAL FITNESS TEST I had to take to get my baseline. Remember those? I failed miserably. There was also a fat pinching machine involved and believe me, there was plenty to pinch. See, since leaving my office job earlier this year, I’ve lost my way (and gained 5 pounds). I work from home most days, and I work All. The. Time. Exercise has become so inconvenient. I never thought I would type those words, let alone be the person who complains that she has no time to workout. I come from a family of mountain climbers and marathon runners. My father still gets up every morning 5:30 to go running. Exercise is in my blood, and I love it. I KNOW in my rational mind that it’s essential to my health, mood, and good looks. Turns out, however, that working out 6 days a week has been a breeze all of these years because the gym was on my way to/from work. Now, for the first time in my life, I need a kick in the pants. I need Instructor Nick to count aloud while I do a measly 6 push-ups. I need lunges and sit-ups and I definitely need to get out of my pjs before noon. Today is Day 2 of the 12 week, 3x/week program. I actually have butterflies in my stomach! Which is proof that boot campe is exactly what I need. I’ll keep you posted on my progress, but don’t be expecting before/after photos unless I end up with a six-pack. Unlikely.
