Laura Nelli, Handbag Designer

You know those “creative” types, who turn everything they touch into gold? In Laura Nelli’s case, it’s ribbon and silk, which she hand-sews into magical, precious, perfectly modern totes and clutches. I remember the first time I spotted a NELLE original in a tiny accessories boutique. I literally squealed with delight. Laura is the best thing to happen to the handbag industry since Kate Spade, and she’s also a dear friend and inspiration. In celebration of her new collection, HAROLD (an hommage to her fiancé), I’ve requested a round-up of the products that keep her so calm, collected, and glowing in the face of fame!

Truth be told I have a major issue with dryness, despite the fact that I drink 120 oz. of water everyday. So, all of my go-to products work to combat redness, flaking, & small breakouts. My number one weapon is Bio Oil ($20), which is primarily pure mineral oil. That’s right. I can’t get enough of the stuff that makes nearly everyone else break out. It leaves my skin supple, clears up my complexion, and gives me a nice glow.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on cleansers & moisturizers, but Aveeno Ultra Calming Cream Cleanser ($8) and Aveeno Clear Complexion Moisturizer ($17)—which has just the right amount of salicylic acid to kick bacteria—is the perfect cocktail for my SUPER sensitive dry skin. Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer in Green ($38) also minimize any redness.

Lately my hair regime has bee low maintenance, since I am growing my locks long for our upcoming nuptials. The three step process: wash with Aveda Dry Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner ($24 each), twist bangs back, then air dry. If I am feeling fancy I will round brush it to high heaven, put in velcro rollers, and spray with L’oreal Elnett ($14). The hold of this drugstore hairspray is amazing.

When it comes to makeup I am a less-is-more kind of a gal. Here are my must-haves: Fresh Supernova Mascara ($25), which doesn’t make my eyes itch, plus the wand is amazing for my barley there lashes. Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel ($21) grabs the hairs rather than painting the skin behind my blonde eyebrows. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Blush in Pink Sugar ($22) gives the perfect flush for a blush junkie like me. Laura Mercier Eye Colour in Buttercream ($22) neutralizes the redness above my eye and highlights my brow bone. Bobbi Brown Eye Shimmer in Bronze ($20) adds a special touch across my lids, and Burt’s Beeswax Lip Balm ($3) helps combat my dry lips.

When all of this is complete, I give my self an aromatic spritz of Armani Privé Rose Alexandrie ($115). It is yummy.
